Promotional activity and new menu ranges may not change across your whole estate, but at specific locations. In January we have seen a number of restaurants expand their range and offer promotions on Vegan meals.

When these seasonal activities start and end its important to track that promotions, hero images, and menu items are correctly updated at the time. By creating Venue Groups of the specific venues which have conducted these activities it is easier to monitor the change. In this tutorial we show how to create a Venue Group from an internal list of post codes.

How to Run the Report

1) Select the Grid Builder analysis and type in the name of your restaurant chain.

2) Choose Filters, Grid Builder and select the Post Code field. Click Apply.

3) Export the report into Excel and expand the groups at the top of the sheet by pressing the 2 button to show the post code for each venue.

4) Copy the data from columns B & C, D & E and F & G into a new sheet with each venue set below the other in the sheet so all the data ends up in columns A and B with Venue in column A and Post code in column B.

5) Move everything from Column B to column A so the post code is in Column A, followed by the ID in Column B.

6) On a separate sheet paste in the list of post codes used for your campaign.

7) Using a Vlookup, look up the post code from your campaign against the post codes in takealytics. to get a venue ID per post code.

8) Go back into Takealytics and select Groups at the top of the page.

9) Select New Group, then give your group a name e.g. Vegan Campaign.

10) If this will be used by multiple people in the business tick Shared with all users. This gives everyone in the company access to this group.

11) Copy the Takealytics ID from your spreadsheet and Paste the ID into the Restaurants box and select the corresponding restaurant.

12) Repeat the copy and paste process for all your venues and then click Save Group.

Now all users within the business will have access to this group. We recommend using this in Grid Builder as it will also show each of the associated matches for each venue in the report.

To then conduct your analysis you could choose fields such as Promotion, Hero Image, Menu Items and Out of Stocks.

Please note at the moment you need to copy and paste in each venue. However takealytics will shortly be releasing functionality to enable the import of multiple venues into a group.

If you have any questions during the above process please do not hesitate to contact us on takealytics chat.
