One of the most common reasons for restaurants losing revenue from delivery is simply not being “available”. As every platform relies on staff in the restaurant opening the location on the platform tablet, all too often restaurants won’t be open when they should be and especially not on every platform they operate on. As such your restaurant is not available to purchase from, on that platform, on that day.

Running Your Tablets Effectively

On a typical day takealytics sees that 3,200 venues on Deliveroo are not open when they should be (30% of all venues that should be open at that time).

Ensuring every one of your locations are available when they should be is one of the quickest and simplest ways to increase delivery revenue. Ensure that you are running your tablets effectively as possible and all venues are brought online when they should be.

Even if a tablet for one platform is online at a particular venue, there is no guarantee the other platforms have been set as available at the same time.

We recommend continuously monitoring your estate to ensure that your tablets are switched to available at the correct time and remain available throughout your opening hours.

How to Run the Report

1) Select the Overview Analysis and type in the name of your estate. e.g. PizzaExpress

2) Click on Filters and choose Should be Open from the Open/Closed section and click Apply.

This will now show all restaurants that should be open at the current time.

This is a useful report to run regularly to see issues across your estate.

If there are many locations click the arrow in the top right hand corner of the map to show every single location.

3) You can further identify if the venues are not open because of a venue or a platform issue. e.g. The Tablet hasn't been set to available or there is no local rider capacity in the local area. Click on the Venue Dashboard and hover over the Venue Issue tag for more information.

You can also hover over the Delivery or Collection Accepting Orders field to see when the venue was last open. With Covid and Lockdown restrictions some restaurants may have been closed. If a venue has shut in the last 2 weeks it may show as should be open but has actually temporarily closed.

4) If the issue looks to be a venue issue and the platform tablet has not been set to available you can automatically send a voice message to the venue to notify them.

Click the telephone symbol next to the Should be Open text. A message which will be sent to the venue will be displayed. Please click OK for the message to be sent. We would advise checking again in 30 minutes to see if the message has triggered the restaurant to set the tablet to available.

Tip: You can use the Date option in Filters to change this analysis to see restaurants that aren't open shortly after their scheduled delivery time - choose a time 15 mins after your estates typical opening time or at a peak time e.g. 7pm on a Friday night. Please note if you choose a historic time you can't send a voice message to the restaurant.
